I was wondering if you could answer a health insurance question for me: I was thinking about starting a Health Savings Account. If I did this, could I pay my insurance premiums for my Anthem policy from it?
That’s a great question, thanks for asking! You would only open a HSA to be used for eligible medical expenses in conjunction with an eligible HSA-qualified High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP). If you have a traditional PPO or HMO with a lower deductible as many have, you would not be able to contribute to a HSA.
